if you’re bummed out about the cherry blossoms coming and going so quick, i’m giving you a chance to relive it all a little bit today. last week, on the first day of peak bloom, akira, ten ten, my best girl friend here in dc stephanie and i made it out to tidal basin for the sunrise. !! it was a gorgeous morning and i’m so excited to share it as a guest post for pure green magazine. also, if pure green is new to you, they’re one of my favorite magazines (i actually have a story coming out for them in print a little later this year!). they’re all about wellness, living mindfully, and sustainable lifestyle goods in a very approachable and stylish way. i relate wholeheartedly as well as have great respect for all they do. take a look! and hope you enjoy seeing and hearing about our morning last week!
oh my goodness. it turns out my sweet friends carlene of healthfully ever after and rebekah of i write gourmet and i have TWO features up on style me pretty living this week (so wild)! today’s feature is an apricot ginger tea as well as a cocktail recipe- a favorite image from this project below (and hope it entices you to check out the full gallery over on style me pretty living!). happy spring weekend, everyone!
some pretty photos and a recipe for a beautiful (and simple!) spring crostini can be found over on style me pretty living today! always love working with carlene thomas and rebekah pizana- everything comes together in the most aesthetically pleasing way and there’s that connection of great friends that makes my job feel especially effortless and fun. featuring bread from melinda friend and shot on location at greenhill winery, see more images and find the recipe here!
some outtakes from a beautiful style shoot with pro ballerina keenan kampa for refinery29. this is without a doubt one of my favorite shoots ever- keenan is not only talented, stunningly pretty and insanely photogenic, she’s calm and cool, down to earth and spending an afternoon with her, her sister megan, and holly (with hollis joining later) was nothing short of great. hope you feel how light and fun it was. the last shot really sums it up- keenan teaching holly some moves. big thanks to these ladies for being so wonderful to work with!
you can probably guess from the title of this post where we’re heading, but i have something kind of EXCITING to tell you!
my sweet friend, caitlin moran, who also happens to be the editorial director at glitter guide, recently got engaged (!!) and STYLE ME PRETTY decided to cover her as a blogger bride (!!!). this means she will be sharing her entire planning process all the way up to the wedding. i cannot even begin to tell you how ecstatically thrilled i was (i also felt like i was having an asthma attack) when she asked me (!!!) to shoot her first post for them. as often comes out of my mouth, holy moly. and, thank you!!
a few favorites to show the gorgeous mood of it all, but PLEASE, go take a look on style me pretty. congratulations, caitlin and austin!! lots of love!
i had the loveliest time capturing this for sweet and talented girlfriends. registered dietician carlene thomas (i hiiighly recommend her, especially if you’re a bride to be!) and pastry chef rebekah pizana created the prettiest bourbon caramel pear cookie recipe (that’s not too unhealthy!- so perfect for after the holidays) and it’s all up on style me pretty living today! we would all be oh so thrilled if you took a look through the gallery and tried it out!
i have to say, it’s been a pretty incredible year.

and, a big thanks to local blogging friends that let me shoot for them this year; sara, victoria, meg, meaghan, tanya, carlene & rebekah and viv (we just worked together this weekend, post to come soon!). couldn’t be happier that we’ve all come together. love how we push and help each other dream big.
2014!! can’t wait to see what it brings.
christmas is quickly approaching (for the illinois time zone i’m currently in)!! with the holiday shoots i’ve been working on and seeing everyone’s pretty holiday instagram updates over the past month, it feels like time. however, when i think about the new year, it seems to be sneaking up pretty quick!
hope you’re all enjoying time with loved ones and friends and that you’re also able to eat beautiful nourishing foods (sometimes we have to make a little effort for healthier options while staying with family- i know i’ve had to). it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. i’m loving every minute of it!- coffee and cozying up next to the cheerful christmas tree, playfully chatting and catching up with my brother (in reality thoroughly entertaining myself by playing harmless tricks and annoying him), watching my mom cook up soo many amazing foods all at once, laughing along with my mom’s partner, mac, as he sneaks one more donut with so much childlike mischievious joy on his face, jogging with akira in the freezing (18 degrees this morning!!) weather and feeling so thankful to come back to a warm house, having ten ten curl up and take a nap on my lap while reading a book. it’s all been great.
speaking of all of these lovely moments, i worked on a few christmas themed features with caitlin moran for glitter guide. it was full of gorgeous details and a complete joy to be a part of. see all of my work for glitter guide holiday here, here and here. i’m already so excited to work with them more in 2014. !! below, i’ve included my favorites (too pretty not to share!).
wishing all of you the happiest happiest holiday!
i shot a feature on snobswap for refinery 29 and it’s live today! below are a couple of favorite outtakes. if you’re new to snobswap, they are a fashion startup here in dc and are all about selling high end designer consignment. the collection of clothes, shoes and other amazing accessories they had within their workspace made me wonder how they don’t spend all of their earnings there (or maybe they do?!)! it would definitely be impossible for me! ;]
it was my first time working with refinery 29 and naturally i felt a little excited as well as full of nerves the morning of; however, i immediately relaxed when i walked into the shoot and one of my very best friends was there styling hair! love how small dc can feel sometimes. hope you’ll check it all out!
it’s a women’s magazine, but it’s also wonderfully real- full of great articles for living life as our best selves as well as cool books and films to check out, recipes to try and pretty style features. its all about female empowerment, but in a really attractive way. their slogan- less of who you should be, more of who you are- really sums it all up perfectly.
we are in their november/ december issue and i would be so excited to hear if you happen to check it out! a favorite image from our shoot to follow.
